New Commerce Experience (NCE)
In January 2022 Microsoft announced a change in how customers purchase and manage their licenses through their Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Program.
The existing M365 Business base is migrating from the legacy platform to the New Commerce Experience (NCE) platform. There will be a price rise impacting customers on the new NCE platform and those migrating to the new platform from 1st July 2022.

New term subscriptions
- 1 month contracts are paid in advance with auto renew
- Customers can have a monthly term and an annual term subscription for the same plans, with the appropriate number of seats in each term (e.g. to accommodate permanent and seasonal employees)
New Cancelleation Terms
• Customers can gain a pro-rata refund if they cancel within a 48hrs time limit after buying a new subscription or if an auto-renew occurs
• If you cancel after 48hrs they’ll be liable for payment of the remaining full contract term. However, they can continue to have access to the service until the end of the subscription term
New seat-change rules
• Customers cannot decrease seats after buying a subscription or renewing their contract term
• The alternative is to cancel and pay early termination charges or let the existing subscription expire and then purchase a lower subscription
Understanding the 48hrs cancellation rule
• Customers have a 48hrs time limit to make changes to their purchase when buying a new subscription or renewing their service
• They can upgrade their current edition to any other edition (within the same product family) before or after the 48hrs limit
Changes allowed inside the 48hrs time limit include the ability to:
• Increase the number of licenses purchased
• Cancel a subscription
• Customers will lose access immediately when they cancel within this 48hr time limit, and it cannot be restored
After the 48hrs time limit customers may only:
• Increase the number of licenses purchased
Customers who cancel outside the 48hr time limit are liable to pay the full remaining term of the contract
• Cancellation will be scheduled at the end of the current subscription term
• Customers will be charged for the full amount of their remaining monthly or annual contract term, and continue to have access to the service until the end of the subscription term.
What happens to existing Legacy M365 Subscriptions?
Existing M365 legacy subscriptions will operate as usual, and seats can be increased or decreased at any time until June 30, 2022
Customers can have both legacy M365 and NCE M365 subscriptions in tandem, however, once the legacy M365 subscription ends, the customer must purchase an NCE M365 subscription if they want to continue using M365.
From June 30, legacy subscription auto-renewal will stop. If customers have not migrated to NCE M365 offers by this date, their service will cease.
